Our Mission
Black Canvas Theatre Company is the theatrical extension of I Am Corta Entertainment, created to develop, produce and present original live stage productions for contemporary audiences.
Based in the Dallas–Fort Worth area, Black Canvas creates theatrical experiences reflecting real people, complicated relationships, Black culture, family, humor, heartbreak, secrets, accountability and the realities of everyday life.
Why Black Canvas?
Every production starts the same way: with nothing. An empty page. An empty stage. An idea waiting to become something more.
A blank canvas does not tell you what the finished picture has to become. It gives you permission to create. Black Canvas approaches theatre the same way.
The Black Canvas Experience
Our productions combine the accessibility and energy of the Black stage-play tradition with an intimate, cinematic approach to storytelling. The experience should feel close, personal, immediate and alive.
Get Involved
Black Canvas is built with actors, artists, crew, audiences, supporters and partners. Opportunities may include auditions, stage management, production crew, design, technical roles, photography, videography and volunteer work.
